5+ years in the making!

I actually feel like I accomplished something today for a change! I woke up this morning determined to finish my son's quilt I started before he was born and I actually did it!

The shell of the quilt has been complete for quite some time so all it needed was to be pieced together with the batting, edges and back. I am so glad I am done with at least one project. The look on Alexander's face was priceless and the quilt hasn't left his side all day

My Inspiration Room

I absolutely love this outdoor room! I clipped it out of a magazine a few years ago and stumbled on it again during my organization frenzy today. Being in Texas a screened in porch is a must! How nice it would be to actually go outside to eat without being eaten alive by mosquitos or fighting the rest of the bug population for your food. I also love the lamp, chandelier and wicker furniture. The white gives it such a clean look with color accents. Kind of reminds me of a little cottage by the beach.

Speaking of cottages and my love affair with books and decorating, look at the latest books on my dream list....

Love & All That Jazz!

Happy Valentines Day!

I hope that cupid has been especially good to everyone this year. I'm kind of a scrooge when it comes to certain holidays; maybe because they aren't the simple joys I remember as a kid but over commercialized stress inducers! I do love to look at all of the cool Valentines the kids receive; that to me is the most fun. I stayed up late last night baking cupcakes for their class parties at daycare today. I am so glad to get them out of my house because I have a serious weakness for cakes, chocolate, anything sweet! Speaking of chocolate I sampled a piece of Cherry Chili chocolate at work today. Sounds intriguing doesn't it? Oh my, it was spicy but so good! I was pleasantly surprised and it is 70% dark chocolate so you are getting some antioxidants there! Who knew you could mix chili peppers with chocolate?! This wonderful little bar came from World Market; I think I am going to have to go pick up some for a special treat.

Red & Pink, Oh My!

Valentines Day is right around the corner and as much as I hate to admit it I am a hopeless romantic. I just love helping the kids write out Valentines Day cards for their classmates. I can remember as a child the thrill of getting a bag full of Valentines. One had to be careful not to give a mushy Valentine to a boy in the class or the teasing would never stop! Since I love all things Vintage the little heart tree really caught my attention. I probably won't find time this year to make it but might save it for a future project. I love the candle ideas too; they look so simple to do but make such an impact.

The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched. They must be felt with the heart.

Happy New Year!

Belated of course!

Wow, has it been almost 2 months since I blogged??? The holidays kept me very busy and now I am in the midst of planning a trip to Disney. I think I am more excited than the kids are!

Even though life is still crazy busy my mind spins with all the projects I want to do. I still love painting and want to take a few more classes to hopefully improve my skills. I guess I should be blessed that my interests are returning because for a long time I really didn't care about much after losing my mom.

Thanks to my best friend I have taken an interest in crocheting again and even learning to knit! knitting is more challenging for me; crocheting I learned when I was 6 years old from my Grandmother and could do it with my eyes closed I think. I received a Lion Brand catalog in the mail this week and these adorable little animals caught my eye!

Mainly because I own two poodles and just adore them and secondly because my son loves lions! So, now that football season is over I am going to get back in the creative groove again.

It has been very cold in Texas lately and I am sad to say that my outdoor herb garden has died :( I miss clipping off fresh basil for my salads. I've been eyeing the Aerogarden lately; my sister has one and loves it and it's totally organic so that will be the next thing I treat myself to if I don't go bankrupt in Disney :)

Last but not least; I have yet to read my Da Vinci code book but I am definitely loving the Chianti wine!
Isn't the bottle pretty?
It's art in itself and I don't want to throw the bottle away when it's done.

Well Ciao for now and hopefully it will not be another month before I blog again!

It's Beginning to Look Like Christmas!

I realize I have been very neglectful to my blog but there is good reason! I have been busy as an elf recently! Here are a few images from around my home.

I love the holiday season; even though it can be chaotic it invokes warm and cozy memories. Even though it was 80 degrees outside today it felt cozy inside amongst the snowmen.

My week....revisited

Sad to say that after a nice long week off from work it is now time to go back tomorrow. It was nice having the time to take a moment to breath, spend quality time with my kids and actually be a little creative. I also turned another year older and received a wonderful package from my dearest friend in the whole world! There is always that one special friend that comes into your life and makes everything right when everything can be so wrong. She listens through your ups and downs and always knows how to brighten your day. She also provides the wisdom when you can't always find it. We all have our families, husbands, co-workers and acquaintances but thank god for girlfriends because they never let you down!

Look at my birthday goodies!
